The closet test

One question decides what we sell: does your child go back to it on their own?

A family closet crammed with toys that stopped being played with

It started with a full closet

We bought a lot of toys. Most of them held a child's attention for about three days, then quietly moved to the back of a closet with all the other good ideas.

None of them were bad toys. They photographed well, they had decent reviews, they were genuinely fun for one afternoon. They just never got picked up a fourth time.

That closet is the reason this shop exists.

One question before anything gets listed

Does the child go back to it on their own, without anyone suggesting it?

Not once, and not while an adult is sitting there making it interesting. Over two or three weeks, in a normal house, with other toys lying around and easier things to do. If it keeps getting picked up unprompted, it passes. If it only works when a grown-up restarts it, it does not.

Plenty of things we liked failed that test. Some were beautiful. Some sell very well elsewhere. They are still not in the catalogue.

A toy shop, not a method

Kiddostoys sells toys for children. Building sets, puzzles, pretend play, outdoor games, things for a rainy Sunday afternoon. Learning toys are one category among the others, not the identity of the shop and not a philosophy we hand you with the parcel.

We are not going to tell you how to raise your kid, or suggest that the right toy decides how they turn out. You know your child. Our job is narrower than that: stop selling you things that end up in the closet, and be straight about what a toy actually does and roughly the age it starts to work.

If something you bought here stopped getting picked up at your house, tell us. That is the feedback that changes what we stock.
